Stochastic order methods applied to stochastic travelling waves
This paper considers some one dimensional reaction diffusion equations driven by a one dimensional multiplicative white noise. The existence of a stochastic travelling wave solution is established, as well as a sufficient condition to be in its domain of attraction. The arguments use stochastic ordering techniques.
متن کاملStochastic First- and Zeroth-order Methods for Nonconvex Stochastic Programming
In this paper, we introduce a new stochastic approximation (SA) type algorithm, namely the randomized stochastic gradient (RSG) method, for solving an important class of nonlinear (possibly nonconvex) stochastic programming (SP) problems. We establish the complexity of this method for computing an approximate stationary point of a nonlinear programming problem. We also show that this method pos...
متن کاملStochastic Simulation Methods Applied to a Secure Electronic Voting Model
We demonstrate a novel simulation technique for analysing large stochastic process algebra models, applying this to a secure electronic voting system example. By approximating the discrete state space of a PEPA model by a continuous equivalent, we can draw on rate equation simulation techniques from both chemical and biological modelling to avoid having to directly enumerate the huge state spac...
متن کاملStochastic Sensitivity Methods Applied to Shipboard Power Systems
In the design of large-scale and dynamic power systems, sensitivity analysis is an effective tool for ranking the importance of variations in governing parameters, and quantifying their interactions. In this work, we propose new methods for stochastic sensitivity analysis, which extend the standard approach by Morris. We apply these to subsystems of an all-electric ship model having multi-rate ...
متن کاملStochastic Waves
Let be a real valued function defined on the state space of a Markov process x,. Let t, be the first time x, gets to a level set of which is ; units higher than the one on which it started. We call the time changed process x, = x, a stochastic wave. We give conditions under which this process is Markovian and we evaluate its infinitesimal operator.
